Scott is responsible for relationship management and advisory services for all power, utilities, renewables, power transmission and energy technology clients. Prior to founding Ansonia Partners, he founded TAG Energy. Earlier in his career, Scott served as Managing Director of CIT Energy, where he headed its New York office covering power, utilities, renewables and energy technology companies. He also led CIT Energy’s investment banking group. He previously was a Managing Director at Bank of America Securities, at New Harbor and at Fieldstone. In addition, he founded and was Managing Director and Industry Head of Deutsche Bank Securities’ power and utility practice for North America. Prior to that, he was Vice President at Citibank, N.A. and Irving Trust Company, where he started his energy banking career. Scott earned an MBA from the Johnson School at Cornell University and a BA from Union College.
Craig Orchant, Managing Partner
Craig specializes in structuring innovative solutions for our clients at Ansonia Partners. He has a keen understanding of the financial, operational, management, and regulatory issues facing many energy and infrastructure businesses. Craig is also responsible for Ansonia's relationships with institutional investors, capital providers and fund managers. It is this combination of skills that enables him to identify the creative yet practical opportunities for his clients. Craig has advised, structured, and underwritten over $20bn of energy and infrastructure transactions. He has also acted as a direct investor in nearly $1bn of energy resources and structured credit assets and managed a $4bn debt and equity portfolio. Prior to founding Ansonia Partners and ERM Capital, its affiliated merchant bank, he was a founding partner of EA Markets, an investment banking firm focused on capital solutions and corporate finance. Previously, he was Head of Corporate Finance and Risk Management at Barclays Capital, and before that, Head of Project and Infrastructure Finance at Deutsche Bank. Before his many years in the financial world, Craig started his career as a professional geotechnical engineer. Craig earned an MBA from Columbia Business School and a Master of Science from Cornell University.
Susan Elkind, Partner & COO
In addition to her responsibilities for business management, Susan leads new business development, marketing and operations for Ansonia Partners. Susan also acts in this capacity for ERM Capital, the merchant banking affiliate of Ansonia Partners. With over 15 years of experience working in real property finance, mortgage portfolio analysis, and structured credit transactions totaling over $5 bn, Susan has structured and placed transactions at various investment banks such as Merrill Lynch and MHT/Chemical Bank, among others. Susan’s credit experience includes the evaluation of non-conforming mortgage assets, commercial properties and servicing operations for bond insurers such as MBIA. She is also a co-founder of an energy consulting firm that resulted from her work in sustainability, most recently with urbangreenwalk, a major collaboration in New York City, successfully uniting historic preservation, retail, environmental, nonprofit, and political constituents. Susan started her career as a banker in the Public Finance group at Manufacturers Hanover Trust, and has a BS/MBA from New York University Stern School of Business.
Al Statman, Senior Adviser
At Ansonia Partners, Al advises on the breadth of our investment banking transactions with specific focus on companies operating in industries regulated by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Al brings extensive experience to Ansonia. For the past 33 years he was a shareholder at Wright & Talisman, a Washington, DC-based boutique energy law firm, and managing shareholder for 24 of those 33 years. At Wright & Talisman, he represented investor owned utilities, electric transmission companies and natural gas companies before the FERC. His practice included representation on many of the US independent power transmission transactions. Al was a founder of Trans-Elect, Inc., North America’s first independent transmission company. He has also been a transmission and generation developer and adviser to utilities. Al graduated with high honors from Oregon State and Syracuse College of Law and clerked for federal judges on the U.S. District Court.
Vera Brussovansky, Managing Director
Vera's responsibilities at Ansonia Partners include origination, analysis, structuring and execution of transactions within the power, utilities, renewables, power transmission and energy technology space. Prior to joining Ansonia, Vera worked with Scott Medla at TAG Energy. She joined TAG Energy with eight years of experience in the energy industry, including CIT Energy, advising companies in the power, utilities, renewables and energy technology space on debt and equity financings. From 2005 to 2008, Vera was an associate at Deutsche Bank’s Natural Resources Group where she provided financing and strategic advisory services to midstream, power and utility companies. Prior to her time at Deutsche Bank, Vera was with New Harbor focusing on power and utilities mergers & acquisitions advisory. She began her career at JP Morgan’s Power & Utilities Investment Banking and Mergers & Acquisitions Groups in New York. Vera earned an MBA from Columbia Business School, a BA in Economics from Brigham Young University, and an intermediate degree in Economics from the University of Heidelberg, Germany.
Pablo Sandstrom, Adviser
At Ansonia Partners Pablo is an Adviser and supports marketing efforts of the firm. Prior to Ansonia, Pablo worked at Morgan Stanley in their London (UK) office. At Morgan Stanley, Pablo was an Associate with the M&A Execution and Financial Institutions Group teams, working on over 20 high profile transactions, including a major pharmaceutical company's defense against its takeover, and many other prominent financial advisory assignments in the international aerospace, banking, telecom and technology industries. Pablo holds a double degree in International Business & Finance from ICADE Business School in Madrid, Spain.
Brian Pedersen, Analyst
Brian is responsible for research, analysis, valuation/modelling, and due diligence. Prior to joining Ansonia Partners, Brian worked at Fitch Ratings Inc. where he provided credit analysis, researched industry trends, and created credit analysis models. He also worked for PerkinElmer, a biotechnology company, as a Financial Analyst. Brian holds a B.A. in Economics from Williams College.
Al Sindhuchatra, Analyst
Al is responsible for research, due diligence, financial analysis and modeling for Ansonia Partners. Prior to Ansonia, Al worked at Quinten Capital, a private equity firm, where he sourced and evaluated deals in the software sector. He also has past experiences in venture capital at Star Farm Ventures and investment banking at Nomura. Al is a graduate of New York University's Stern School of Business with a B.S. in Business with concentrations in finance and statistics, and a minor in computer science and mathematics.
