Ansonia Partners Hosts the Annual Roundtable
NEW YORK, NY, December 5, 2018 –
On December 5th, 2018, Ansonia Partners brought together utility executives, the investment community, developers, regulators, and technology innovators for its annual Roundtable event.
For over a decade, the Roundtable has been a gathering place for senior energy professionals to network and further their understanding of the new opportunities and challenges that exist in an ever-changing industry. This year the event was the largest gathering in Roundtable history with over 40 companies represented from across the globe, sponsored by Con Edison, CorEnergy (Corridor), MMR, and Wright & Talisman.
The Roundtable theme was “Innovation: Its Impact on the Power Industry” with a focus on how emerging technologies, C+I customers, and alternative business practices are rapidly changing the future of the industry. We continued our history of providing participants with new insights from leading industry experts. The Roundtable Speakers included:
Barbara Lockwood, VP of Regulation, Arizona Public Services
Gurudatta Nadkarni, VP of Strategic Planning, Con Edison
Philip Dion, VP of Technology and Business Development, American Electric Power
David Pacyna, Power Industry Executive
Tomas Leander, SVP and General Manager, ABB Inc
Alessandro Magnanti, Head of International Business Development, Terna SpA
This year the Roundtable had a unique and exciting format. After a reception, Ansonia Partners screened a video presentation that compiled a discussion by each Speaker around a particular topic, followed by a lively Q+A session. Barbara Lockwood’s topic was “An Evolving Regulatory Model, Balancing Utilities and Community: The Path Forward” and she shared her views on the evolving regulatory environment that utilities must operate under. Gurudatta Nadkarni described the enormous challenge utilities face supplying consumers with clean energy through his topic, “Details Matter: Meeting the Clean Energy Challenge”. Phillip Dion discussed changing C&I customer preferences and how these changes will affect the future of the grid with “Back to the Future: C&I Customers’ Preferences Accelerate the Transformation of the Grid”. Dave Pacyna described the transformative role software will have on the utility industry in “21st Century Technology for 21st Century Utilities”. To complement this, Tomas Leander emphasized critical changes in hardware, i.e. HVDC technology, in his topic “Enabling Our Future Energy Systems: New HVDC Transmission Technologies” that shape the future grid, making it more efficient and agile. Finally, Alessandro Magnanti described how Terna was able to invest, create partnerships, and harness new technologies in “Terna, from Provider to Enabler: Transformation into a Flexible and Reliable Transmission System”, demonstrating that Italy was able to successfully transform its power infrastructure.
Scott Medla, Craig Orchant, Susan Elkind and Al Statman were lively hosts and facilitators.
We thank all of our Speakers and Matteo Neri, Terna International Business Development, (who substituted for Alessandro during the Q+A), and Sponsors for making the 2018 Roundtable such a success!
Please join Ansonia Partners on December , 2019 for the next Roundtable, where we will continue to connect, learn, and transform the Power Industry with our fellow professionals from across the globe.
